Grace Earring

The magic happens with this capsule. Made in Medellin, Colombia, from the union of two artists and sisters, Laura and Ana Maya Silva. Each piece is a result of detailed design and careful attention to manual production, as everything we carefully select for @sheselectionstore.com. The work with hand-woven and starched threads is the result of a research process with natural starches that has yield an impeccable product. The technique used is the result of a long research process. To discover which kind of threads to use, how to join and knot them, and how to keep them bound together. Those were questions they solved along the way as they were learning how to use the material and now, they have mastered a differentiated tech. They got inspired by different cultures, ancestral and their representations through out objects and symbols. The colors shows the reference of Colombian folklore to evoke the warmth and strength of woman, also part of what SHE Selection has as a value and as part of our brand purpose. The base material is brass. Each piece is textured or polished to achieve the effect of rusticity that is part of their identity. Later on, each piece receives a 24karat gold plated. The thread of cotton I another of the material that we love and that´s one of the main reasons we made this selection. The cotton passes through processes such as hand sewing and then a starched with natural starch. As a result, we see an impeccable piece of great value handcrafted. The artesian processes are developed by people from local community a all selection we made at SHE, and have mothers head of the family, and former convicts. They are in charge of sewing and starch the threads ending and packaging.
